SAMMELBAND

Large sammelband containing separately issued selections for voice and keyboard, in Italian, from works primarily by Bellini and Donizetti, but also including some by Costa, Carafa, Balfe and others. An index in ink on the front free endpage identifies all of the included works (see images), and is signed "Castledillon / June 24th, 1841," the name "Castledillon" also impressed on the plate affixed to the front board. Approximately 35 works are included with selections from "La Sonnambula," "I Puritani," "I Capuleti e I Montecchi," "Beatrice di tenda," "L'Elisir d'Amore," "Lucrezia Borgia," "Anna Bolena," "Lucia di Lammermoor," "Norma," "Marino Faliero," "Parisina," "Il Rimprovero," and concluding with Bellini's final work, "Vaga Luna." The editions all published in England, ca. 1840, primarily by T. Boosey, R. Mills, S. Chappell, Lonsdale and Mills, Mori & Lavenus, Metzler & Co.. Many of them advertise the performances of singers such as Giuditta Pasta and Nicola Ivanoff. Marbled boards, half brown leather, spine cover mostly separated, two pages torn, otherwise generally clean and very good througout. From the collection of Robert Tollette. (9174)
