Autograph letter from the Hungarian prince, a member of the famous Esterházy family, whose building of palaces, extravagant clothing, and taste for opera and other grand musical productions led to his being given the title "the Magnificent." He is remembered as the principal employer of Joseph Haydn. 1 page, in French, dated 26.7.1767.



The Schloss Esterházy palace in Eisenstadt, Austria was one of the residences of the Esterházy family. For much of his career, Haydn lived and worked there and at the Eszterháza in Hungary, just 25 miles from Eisenstadt. (9058)
