AMQS from the influential English conductor, comprising five bars of 'Amens'. On a piece of card, 6 x 2 inches. Heavy glue stains on the verso somewhat showing through the page but otherwise fine.

In addition to conducting the first performance in England of any Tchaikovsky opera (1893), Wood was founder of the famous Promenade Conerts (the "PROMS") in Queen's Hall , beginning in 1895. One of the most important of all 20th century English musicians, he led many first performances or first performances in Britain. According to Arthur Jacobs (Grove), he premiered at least 717 works by 357 composers! Wood also collaborated with Sir Athur Sullivan in composing Yeomen of the Guards and Ivanhoe, and was knighted in 1911. (9042)
