Autograph signed note from the great director to costume designer, Lidia Naumova. "To Lidia Ivanovna Naumov from S.M. Eisenstein (Unfortunately point 2 wholly applies for the collars as well)." 1 page, in pencil on tan paper bearing Soviet stamp showing an aviator. Framed with an image of Eisenstein. SS: 5 3/4" x 4 1/4". OS: 16 x 11 inches.

Naumova was a famous costume designer who worked with Eisenstein on some of his most important films.

The pioneering Soviet Russian film director and film theorist, Sergei Eisenstein, is often considered to be the "Father of Montage". He is noted in particular for his silent films Strike (1924), Battleship Potemkin (1925) and October (1927), as well as the historical epics Alexander Nevsky (1938) and Ivan the Terrible (1944, 1958).
