"Bêtes et méchants / poéme de Paul Éluard," autograph manuscript for voice and piano, 7 pp, dated 24/5/45, signed twice and inscribed to the French film actor, Philippe Castelli.The overtly political song with lyrics by the Surrealist Poet Paul Eluard, is marked "chant dissident" at the head of the first page of score. Sauguet was a Communist and member of the French Resistance in WWII.
