"Ol' Man River" - Autograph Musical Quotation

Boldly penned AMQS of Kern's most famous song and one of the most famous American songs ever composed. Two measures in thick black ink on an index card, signed across the quotation "Jerome Kern" and identified by the composer. Card slightly toned around the edges, but otherwise fine and sold together with the orignal transmissal envelope. 7.5 x 12.5 cm. Autograph quotations from this song are very rare and desirable.


"Ol' Man River" is a song in the 1927 musical Show Boat that expresses the African American hardship and struggles of the time with the endless, uncaring flow of the Mississippi River; it is sung from the point-of-view of a black dock worker on a showboat and is the most famous song from the show.
