Bronze high-relief portrait medal of the legendary Diva, inscribed "Maria Felicita Malibran Garcia" around the right-facing portrait. Verso with the text "Per Universale Consenso Proclamata Mirabile Nel Canto E Nell'Azione Milano MDCCCXXXIV. 44 mm. 37.9 grams. Signed by the eminent medallist Vittorio Nesti. Andorfer & Epstein 388. A very rare medal.

Maria Malibran, creator of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda and works by Bellini and Mendelssohn, was one of the most celebrated singers in history, whose early death at the age of 28 contributed to her status as a figure of legend. (7996)
