Auric, Georges. (1899-1983)

Pastorales pour Piano - SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY TO PAUL LAFFITTE

Paris: Editions de la Sirene. 1920. First edition. Signed and inscribed on the title page: "A monsieur Paul Laffitte / bien cordialement / Georges Auric / Paris 23 octobre 1920. " Wrappers toned, generally fine.

Interesting signed presentation copy from the French composer, a child prodigy who had his first compositions published by age 15 and who, by the time of this early inscription, had already orchestrated and written incidental music for several ballets and stage productions.

The dedicatee of the inscriptin is Paul Laffitte, who in 1917 had founded the influential publishing firm, Editions de la Sirène. It was later chiefly run by Cocteau and Blaise Cendrars and was known in particular for the publication of Cocteau's writings and many musical scores of Stravinsky, Satie and "Les Six," including Auric.
