Durante, Jimmy. (1893-1980)

Signed Photograph

Vintage 8 x 10 inch Maurice Seymour photograph of the Italian American singer, pianist, comedian and actor. His distinctive clipped gravelly speech, comic language-butchery, jazz-influenced songs, and large nose helped make him one of America's most familiar and popular personalities of the 1920s through the 1970s. His jokes about his nose included referring to it as a "Schnozzola", and the word became his nickname. Inscribed "To Betty / I'm singing to you - Inka a Dinka Doo / which means I love you / Jimmy Durante." Corners chipped/creased, else fine. From the Estate of Betty Melnikoff, née Peskin. (7831)
