"Babaouo" - Signed and Inscribed to Gaston Bergeri

Number 420 of 600 numbered copies on vélin Outheninchalandre, from the limited edition of 623 in all. Fragile wrappers a little worn/toned, with chipping/losses along spine, but otherwise fine throughout. Signed and inscribed on the half title by Dali to Gaston Bergeri(sic) [Bergery], French ambassador to Russia.Dali speaks about Bergery's wife in a note in "La Vie secrète de Salvador Dalí: Suis-je un génie?", p. 630:
‘…Mais l’home, et la biologie de la maison Scaparally etai Betina bergeri : qui etai l’une des fammes posedan le plus de fantassie de Paris : elle et resemble exactement a une mante religieusse, et elle le sait /savait/ : elle et une gloire inconu / du corps et de l’esprit/ de lAmerique et l’Epouse de l’ambassadeur de actuel de France, a moscou /Gaston Bergeri/ …’

"Babaouo" includes "A shortened critical history of cinema" ["Abrege d'une histoire critique du cinema"] and "William Tell, portugese ballet" ["Guillaume Tell ballet portugais"]. "Scénario non réalisé de Salvador Dalí, datant de la période la plus inspirée et paru en 1932 aux éditions des Cahiers libres (Paris). Alors que le scénario lui-même est un chef-d’oeuvre de mystification poétique, le texte qui sert de préface au volume, ‘Abrégé d’une histoire critique du cinéma,’ constitue une contribution majeure au problème du cinéma du point de vue surréaliste. Dalí, dans ce texte, rend notamment un époustouflant hommage à certains films ‘de second ordre,’ (le mélodrame italien, le burlesque américain) qui lui servent à établir une distinction exemplaire entre la poésie et le simple art" (Petr Kral, in Biro/Passeron).
