Original signed cabinet photograph from the important conductor, the first conduct Bruckner's 7th Symphony and the first to record Beethoven's complete 5th Symphony. An original photograph by Atelier Lipsia of Leipzig on which Nikisch has boldly signed. 10.5 x 16.5 cm. Mounting traces on verso, some light scratches around the image, otherwise fine.

Regarded as one of the founders of modern conducting , Nikisch held posts as principal conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandausorchester in Leipzig and the Berlin Philharmonic. (6730)
