Signed Postcard about Venice

Nice autograph note signed "Ben B." from the English composer on the back of a Venice Basilica di San Marco postcard, postmarked 1964. To Mr. & Mrs. James Butt, in part: "Spending some weeks in this glorious city - lovely weather now (after an icy start). Lots of wonderful things to see, but not very much time to do so, because I am working hard."



Britten wrote "Curlew River" (a "parable for church performance") while in Venice in the winter of 1964. (6691)
