Signed 1957 Trio Program
A very rare signed Scottish program from the British virtuoso horn player largely credited for popularizing the horn as a solo classical instrument. The present program is from an appearance with the trio he founded with pianist Wilfrid Parry and violinist Jean Pougnet, both of whom have also signed. The trio performed works by Mozart, Schubert, Dukas and Brahms. 4 pp, 13.5 x 23 cm. From the collection of the BBC producer, Sylvia Cartner.On 1 September 1957, Brain was killed driving his Triumph TR2 sports car home to London after a performance at the Edinburgh Festival.
