Kandinsky, Wassily. (1866 - 1944)

Signed Letter, requesting copies of the issue of "Selection" devoted to his Art

Rare signed typed letter from the pioneering Russian artist who takes a place among the seminal figures in the development of abstract art. Postcard format. 1 page, dated July 30, 1933, in French, to to M. de Ridder. Translated, in full: "I have still not received the issues. Would you please be so kind as to let me know when you will send them - one example on Hollande directly to my address and the others to the address of Knauer. And finally the 20 examples to M. Grohmann? I will be most grateful. Cordial salutations! [Signed] Kandinsky. [with a typed postscript]: Please correct the address of M. Prof. Dr. Alois Schardt on the list that I gave you - it's no longer Halle, but Berlin, National Gallery, where he is now Director."

Andre de Ridder was the editor of the Belgian periodical "Selection," which published a special issue on Kandinsky in July 1933 ("Selection Chronique de la Vie Artisque XIV Wassily Kandinsky - Editions Selection Anvers 1933"). Will Grohmann was an important art critic and author of a book on Kandinsky and a contributor to the issue of "Selection." (6447)
