Münster: Aschendorff'sche Buchhandlung. 1842. First edition. xii, 178 p. fold. facsim. ; 23 cm. Schindler first published his biography of Beethoven in 1840 and then reissued it in 1845 with the addition of his pamphlet "Beethoven in Paris." The present volume is the very rare true first publication of the independent work by Schindler based on observations he had made during his recent trips to Paris concerning the growing French acceptance and performance of Beethoven's music.
