Bülow, Hans Von. (1830-1894) [Ella, John (1802-1888)]

Autograph Letter mentioning Rubinstein

2 pages (4.5 x 7 inches). London, February 8, 1864. An important letter from the influential pianist and conductor, addressed to John Ella ("Monsieur Ella"), the eminent British violinist, ciritic and concert manager. In French, signed "Hans de Bülow." In very fine condition.

In part: "I have just received your letter and the 'Annuaire de l'Union' upon my return from Liverpool. It is truly very kind on your part to have thought of me and cordially thank you. Though I haven't been to your place, you haven't been out of my thoughts - whenever I am playing Rubinstein, I remember that you were the first in London to recognize the genius of this artist and to introduce his works and that I have not but followed in your tracks..."
