Ferrier, Kathleen. (1912–1953)

Signed Program

Signed program from the great contralto who died tragically young. A 1944 program from a performance of Handel's "Israel in Egypt," boldly signed by Ferrier as well as Isobel Baillie, Deddle Nash and Malcolm Sargent who directed the Northern Philharmonic Orchestra at Huddersfeld. Covers worn, separated at spine, light central vertical crease and a few stray marks, but with the signed page overall good.

Bruno Walter wrote of Ferrier “No summit of solemnity was inaccessible to her, and it was particularly music of spiritual meaning that seemed her most personal domain.” (5901)
