"Cupid's Home," Autograph Manuscript

Autograph manuscript from the English pianist and composer, whose real name was Burnand. Born at Croyden, he became a pupil of the Leipzig Conservatory in 1876 and later studied under Clara Schumann, Anton Rubinstein, with Liszt in Weimar (he went on to publish a volume of "Chats" with Liszt). He appeared as a pianist throughout Europe and America and wrote a sizeable quantity of music, mostly for the piano.



Autograph manuscript for voice and piano, entirely in the hand of the composer. "Cupid's Home. Vocal Gavotte. Allegretto moderato." 3 pp. Signed and "Dedicated to Mrs. Duncan Alexander Caine" on the first page, and signed additionally at the conclusion, "a Paris, le 17 Juin 1890." Outer edges creased or chipped, horizontal creases and some toning, but music fully legible and otherwise fine. (4758)
