[History & Science] Keller, Helen. (1880 - 1968)

Original Photograph with Radio, Ca. 1915

Vintage 8 x 10 inch doubleweight photograph of Keller "listening" to the radio, "by means of the vibrations she receives when placing her fingertips against a loud speaker." [According to penciled note on verso]. Keller was a great music lover, and was able to identify composers by feeling the vibrations while touching Heifetz's violin and the lips of Enrico Caruso and Lauritz Melchior! She also, famously danced in Martha Graham's studio in 1954, by feeling the vibrations of the music through the floor. (4439)
