Travers, Patricia. (b.1928)

Autograph Signature and Photograph

Autograph signature from the great prodigy violinist who debuted at Carnegie hall at the age of nine, captivated millions with her 1940 performance in the film "There's Magic in Music," (clip available on YouTube) and who lead a major career until late 1951 when she literally vanished from the stage, retiring alla Garbo or Durbin from the public eye. Her famous Strad, the "Tom Taylor" was sold in 1954.

On a page measuring 10.5 x 12.5 cm. Identified on a separate page by the collector, who apparently received the autograph when Travers performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on Feb. 25th, 1951. This was one of Travers' final performances. Sold together with a vintage 1944 DeBellis photograph. (3870)
