In 1910 Debussy was commissioned to compose music for D'Annunzio's "Mystere," for the dancer Ida Rubinstein. The first performance was on May 22nd, 1911 at the Théatre du Chatelet in Paris, conducted by Caplet, with Rubinstein as the Saint, costumes and scenery by Léon Bakst and choreography by Michel Fokine. Rubinstein later produced and starred in several revivals and the present program is from one of those performances. Quite rare, this is the first such program we have seen. (3750)
