Oversize cabinet photograph, signed and inscribed by the composer to the celebrated French soprano, Marthe Chenal (1881 - 1947): "A la Belle et inoubliable Creatrice de ma 'Jeanne d'Arc" Paris le 24 Novembre 1917. Son admirateur dévoué Raymond Roze." Photograph measures 21 X 35.5 cm. Light silvering, overall very good.

Chenal created the title role of Roze's "Jeanne d'Arc" at Covent Garden on November 1, 1913. Son of the renowned English soprano Marie Roze, Raymond was a piano student of Arthur de Greef and founded the British Symphony Orchestra in the summer of 1919, shortly before his premature death. (3561)
