Inscribed Visiting Card to Arimondi, referencing Falstaff

Inscribed visiting card of the great Italian composer who takes a place among the most influential figures in the history of opera.

A 2-line inscription on his visiting card, "Giuseppe Verdi," addressed to the bass Vittorio Arimondi (1861-1928), whom the great composer congratulates. Arimondi, who made his first appearance at La Scala in 1893 as Sparafucile in Rigoletto, was also the first to play Pistola in Falstaff, referenced here in the inscription:  "Evviva dunque feroce Pistola!...[Giuseppe Verdi] ringrazia." Sold Together with the original envelope, addressed simply in Verdi's hand "Arimondi."    (3418)
