Original dyeline manuscript copy of Blake's famous "Charleston Rag, formerly called 'Sounds of Africa," boldly signed in ink at the top right of the first page. 5 pp. printed by Circle Blue Print Co.. Filing holes along left margin, otherwise in very fine condition.

The influential ragtime composer claimed that he had composed the melody to the "Charleston Rag" in 1889, but that he did not commit it to paper until 1915, when he learned to write in musical notation. (3274)
