Finely bound in an impressive contemporary full leather binding with extensive relief detailing. Almost immediately after Wagner conducted the first performance at the Royal Theater in Dresden on October 19, 1845, he set about revising the opera, especially altering the third act. Wagner himself paid for the publication of the piano-vocal scores and the present copy is the first edition of the second version. (3230)
