Original 1771 Mezzotint

A fine original mezzotint portrait of the cellist who was nicknamed "Nosey." Engraved and published in 1771 by Picot, after the original by Zoffini. 25 x 35 cm. Trimmed to just outside the plate, overall in fine condition. Not in the Harvard Theatre Collection Catalogue of Dramatic Portraits.


"Cervetti was also known as Cervetto and Ceruetto or Ceruetti, he came to England as an old man and was engaged to play the bass at Drury Lane, continuing there until a season or so previous to Garrick's retirement in 1776.
