Original 1840 Broadside

An original Theatre Royal Dublin concert broadside, featuring an incredible lineup of singers including both Ernesta and Giulia Grisi and Antonio Tamburini, under the baton of Julius Benedict. The broadside advertises a set of three performances which boggle the mind! On Thursday, a performance of Rossini's "Semiramide," was to be followed by a concert of selections from other works by Rossini, Meyerbeer, Rode, Benedict, Gnecco and Donizetti! On Friday, the audience would be offered not only "Anna Bolena," but also "Il Barbiere di Siviglia." On Saturday, the series would culminate in "A Variety of Operatic Entertainments for the Benefit of Madame Grisi." In very fine condition, on fully-backed thin tissue paper. Bottom portion is neatly folded for storage, otherwise fine. 18.5 X 46 cm.

Giulia Grisi, one of the most celebrated sopranos of her time, was creator of the roles of Adalgisa in Bellini's "Norma" and Adelia in Donizetti's "Ugo, conte di Parigi." (3156)
