Grainger, Percy. (1882–1961)

Three Original Concert Programs

An interesting trio of concert programs, showing the diverse performing activities of the spirited Australian composer and pianist. The first program (May 21, 1915), shows Grainger in performance with the Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra under the baton of Richard Hagemann, in a program which included solo piano performances of arrangments by Grainger himself and which featured Grainger as soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto. The Second program (March 22), shows Grainger in joint recital with the "Dutch Nightingale," mezzo-soprano, Julia Culp. The final program (May 3, 1917) shows Grainger again in joint recital, this time with May Peterson. All three in fine condition, with mounting remnants on verso of each, the final program including a contemporary newspaper review which has left its mark on the inside of the program. (3019)
