Grouping of three Carte de visite portraits of eminent British politicians, including an 1862 Mayall of London photograph and a semi caricature portriat by Herbert Watkins of London of Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston; and a Whitfield of London photograph of William Gladstone. A few scattered spots, else fine. 2.5 x 4 inches (6.4 x 10.5 cm).Lord Palmerston, was a British statesman who was twice Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the mid-19th century. Palmerston dominated British foreign policy during the period 1830 to 1865, when Britain stood at the height of its imperial power. British statesman and Liberal politician William Gladstone served for 12 years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, spread over four non-consecutive terms (the most of any British prime minister) beginning in 1868 and ending in 1894.
