Paris: Octobre, 1958. Signed copy of the seventeenth edition of this multimedia monthly. Comb-bound in color pictorial printed wrappers. Nine leaves (unpaginated), with 6 flexi disc records bound in (as published). Inscription by the Italian violinist, then nineteen years old, to fol. 7 recto, which features a brief article on him by Roger de Roquancourt. Almost square format, 7.25 x 7.5 inches (18.5 x 19 cm). Small ink stain to back cover; else in very good condition. Certainly the most unusual Accardo autographed item we've encountered!From October 1958 to July-August 1962 Sonopresse published the monthly Sonorama: Le magazine sonore de l'actualité ("sound news magazine"). Each of the 42 issues of this French journal were published with the assistance of the radio station Europe No 1, and edited by Cl. Claude-Maxe, Ithier de Roquemaurel, and Jean-Pierre Castel. The main feature of each issue was a varying number (mostly six to eight) of record-style thin plastic sound sheets related to the news, culture, and happenings in contemporary France and abroad. The way the magazine was formatted and bound the records were playable (at 33 rpm despite their small format) without removing them from the binding since the whole magazine with its hole punched through the center fit on the turntable of record players. The magazine accompanied each record with a brief printed description Illustrated profusely with photographs.
The present issue of Sonorama also includes a brief article by Max Favalelli, of a promotional nature, "Jean Siegfried: Il restate sa noblesse à la chanson," along with a Flexi-disc record. "Jean Siegfried" was the stage name of Siegfried Meir (1934–2020), a Holocaust survivor born in Frankfurt and interned in Auschwitz and Mauthausen. He lived in France after the war and tried to make a career as a chanson singer from 1957, but with limited success. He gave up on a musical career and moved to Ibiza in 1967, where he also died.
