Signed illustrated title of the musical Into the Woods with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (who did not sign) and book by James Lapine and "adapted and illustrated by Hudson Talbott" (New York: Crown Publishers, 1988). Inscribed and signed to Paul McMahon from James Lapine. Cut from the book. 10 x 8.5 inches (25.5 x 21.3 cm). In excellent condition.

Into the Woods, first produced in 1987, won several awards, including Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Book.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
