Löwy of Vienna of the influential Russian pianist, conductor and composer, signed and inscribed in German to verso: "To my charming fellow sufferer in Holland, Miss Henriette Garte-narie Ant. Rubinstein / Utrecht, February 19, 1868.  CDV with printed date "1868," light horizontal crease, else fine.  4 x 2.25 inches (10.5 x 6 cm). 

Anton Rubinstein, founder and first director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, arguably achieved the pinnacle of his fame in the late 1860s. The identity of the person to whom this portrait is inscribed remains unclear. (21761)
