Bresser); Publisher's catalog, Neue Musikalien im Verlag bei F. J. Mompour in Bonn 1838, to final page [22]. The present edition is not listed in the catalog, suggesting that it was not yet available in 1838; it was first announced in Hofmeister XIX (May 1839).

Anton Schindler is best known for his association with Ludwig van Beethoven, whose secretary he was from 1822, and for his biography—the first ever—of Beethoven, published in 1840 and expanded in 1860. But he was a composer in his own right. Three collections of songs by Schindler were published in his lifetime, of which this was the last. Autograph material of any kind is very uncommon: in over 40 years of records, we have traced but one autograph item from him at auction (Christie's, 2014) and only a handful in dealer catalogues.
