Budd Schulberg won the Award for Best Story and Screenplay at the 1954 Academy Awards for On the Waterfront.  The Disenchanted, his third novel, was the tenth best-selling novel in the United States in 1950, and was adapted into a Tony Award-winning play in 1958.
