Souvenir Program

Striking souvenir program from a 1913-14 world tour by the great ballerina, featuring halftone photographs of Pavlova and others, together with essays about each of the pieces performed, the cover featuring an inset color halftone photograph in decorative relief-printed frame and the dancer's name in raised type to the lower right.  Pavlova's repertoire for the season included dances set to music by Adam, Armsseimer, Dargomiszki, Deldevez, Delibes, Drigo, Gerthel, Glazunov, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Seroff, Spendiarow, and Weber.  16 pp.  Bound with string, moderate wear to front and back cover, overall in fine condition.  9 x 12 inches (22.9 x 30.5 cm.).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
