Souvenir Program

Souvenir program from the great ballerina's 1914-15 tour, featuring halftone photographs of Pavlova and others, together with essays about each of the pieces performed, the cover featuring an inset halftone photograph in decorative printed frame and the dancer's name in raised type to the lower right.  Pavlova's repertoire for the season included dances set to music by Bayer, Dargomiszki, Drigo, Glazunov, Gounod, Liszt, and Spendiarow.  Towards the back of the program, an extended tutorial on three new social dances of Pavlova's own creation can be found, including the Pavlowana.  16 pp.  Bound with string, in fine condition.  9 x 12 inches (22.9 x 30.5 cm.).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
