Uncommon signed photograph of the celebrated string quartet posing with their instruments, signed by violinist Elisa Pegreffi, cellist Franco Rossi, violinist Paolo Borciani, and violist Piero Farulli.  Irregular trim, else in fine condition.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm).

Founded in 1945 in Reggio Emilia, the Quartetto Italiano had a long and influential presence both in Italy and internationally. The group is particularly noted for its recording of the complete Beethoven string quartets, made between 1967 and 1975.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
