Autograph letter signed from the important English composer to Alfred Littleton regarding business arrangements.  Herefordshire, 25 October 1907; 1 pp.  In full: "My Dear Littleton / Enclosed I send a formal letter to the firm; is it sufficient? Do not trouble to answer as I shall see you so soon but perhaps you will get matters en train in case I have to sign formal papers / Yrs ever / Ed:Elgar / It is the least I can do for Jaeger [the composer's closest friend, the publishing manager of Novello, A.J. Jaeger, "Nimrod" of the "Enigma" Variations] & I have sent him a note saying I have done it."  A few stray marks, horizontal fold crease and mild toning to margins; overall in fine condition.  7 x 9 inches (17.8 x 22.8 cm.).

A key figure in Elgar's career and one of the composer's closest correspondents, Alfred Littleton (1845 - 1914) was Chairman and co-owner of the prominent London-based music publishers Novello, Ewer & Company during the years 1886–1914.  (20170)
