Collection of Autograph Signatures including several from the touring production of Welles' "Caesar"

Collection of 19 signatures from actors and actresses of the early 20th century, including several cast members from the Mercury Theatre's national touring production of Orson Welles' legendary Caesar.  Many of the signatures are directly to autograph album leaves, though several were written on pieces of paper or program clippings that were later mounted to the leaves.  In fine condition.  Leaves measure 6.75 x 5 inches (17.1 x 12.7 cm.).

Signatures from Caesar include Vincent J. Donahue and Muriel Brassler, who have inscribed "Cinna the poet" and "Portia," respectively; Lawrence Fletcher, who has inscribed "To Isabel Harper— Thank you / Lawrence Fletcher,/ 'Caesar' / 4/30/38"; Edmond O'Brien, together with halftone photographs; and Tom Powers, who took over the role of Brutus in the Broadway production once Welles left, with halftone photograph.

Other present signatures include Maude Adams, who has dated 1939; Ruth Chatterton from a November 11, 1939 performance of Tonight We Dance at the Cox Theatre; ; Harry Ellerbe with halftone photograph; Peter Grant, together with two halftone photographs a brief press clipping; Walter Huston and Jeanne Madden from an April 22, 1939 performance of Knickerbocker Holiday at the Cox Theatre; Harold J. Kennedy; Elissa Landi and Richard Stapley, who has signed his stage name, "Richard Wyler"; Owen Phillips, the director of the Cincinnati Actors Guild; Dorothy Sands, who has inscribed "With all good wishes"; Gordon Shaw, identified as the WLW announcer; Onslow Stevens with halftone photograph; and Max Vivier, who has inscribed in French.
