[Boxing] Ali, Muhammad. (1942–2016)

Original Photograph

Original photograph of a young Ali in the ring, wearing his iconic Everlast shorts and with his arms spread wide.  A handwritten note to verso identifies him as Cassius Clay, and a partial stamp  reads "Centro de Información."  From the archives of Revista Bohemia, often referred to simply as Bohemia, the oldest mass market magazine in Cuba, providing commentary on politics, history, and fashion. In fine condition.  4.5 x 3.75 inches (11.4 x 9.5 cm.).

The three-time World Heavyweight Champion is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight championship boxers of all time.  A controversial and polarizing figure during his early career, Ali is now highly regarded for both the skills he displayed in the ring and the values he exemplified outside of it: religious freedom, racial justice and the triumph of principle over expedience. (19982)
