Uncommon signed original Jise Hofmann of Leipzig photograph of the French pianist, who has inscribed "À Mr. Dieter [unintelligible] / sympatiquement / Monique Haas / Mai '59."  Photographer's stamp to verso, creases to corners, light wear along lower and right edges, else in fine condition.  4 x 5.5 inches (10 x 14 cm).

Haas specialized in 20th-century repertoire, a celebrated interpreter of Debussy, Ravel, and Bartók.  She was a student of Rudolf Serkin and Robert Casadesus. (19786)
