Original 1971 Domaine Musical Lithograph Poster

Original 1971 poster designed by Miró for a pair of Domaine Musical performances at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris.  Divided into two performances, each set that evening featured three pieces by Edgard Varèse and three pieces by Iannis Xenakis.  The first performance, at 6:30, included Octandre, Densité 21.5, and Poème électronique by Varèse alongside Herma, Diamorphoses, and ST/10 by Xenakis.  The second set at 8:30 included EcuatorialPoème électronique, and Déserts from Varèse, followed by the French premiere of Xenakis' Aroura, the premiere of a 4-track version of Hibiki Hana Ma, and Eonta.  Creasing to the lower margin, very slight foxing throughout; overall fine condition.  19.75 x 9 inches (50 x 23 cm.).

"Based in Paris from 1954 to 1973, Le Domaine musical was a groundbreaking concert series, established to promote the new music of the postwar generation, and it included important works by such avant-garde composers as Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, Mauricio Kagel, Luigi Nono, Hans Werner Henze, and Henri Pousseur, as well as modernist classics by Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern, and Edgard Varèse."
