Typed Letter Signed Clemens Krauss related to the recording of "Fantasia"

Boldly signed TLS from the great conductor to Dr. Clemens Krauss, important Austrian conductor who served as director of the Vienna, Berlin and Munich opera houses.  22 September 1938;  1 pp.  In part, "I have just been offered some engagements in the United States which will make it impossible for me to go to Europe next summer. / I am greatly disappointed, but still hope it can be done later in the future." Expected mailing folds, else in fine condition.  7.75 x 9.75 inches (19.7 x 24.8 cm.).

In January of the following year, Stokowski would sign an eighteen-month contract with Disney to conduct the music for the 1940 animated feature Fantasia.  The recording sessions with the Philadelphia Orchestra took place between April and July of 1939.   (19689)
