Autograph Receipt Signed from London

Rare autograph document from the great Italian tenor, a signed receipt that reads, in full (translated from the Italian): "I received £500 sterling of five hundred due, in payment for the month of May. / 1st of June, 1830 Gio. Battista Rubini."  Stamped seal to document reads "Receipt / B / Seven / Shillings / Six / Pence / Under £1000."  Light foxing, mounting remnant to verso, else in fine condition.  7.5 x 3.25 inches (19 x 8.2 cm.).

Rubini was possibly the most famous Italian tenor of his day, with numerous roles written for him by the likes of Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini.  In 1825, he moved to Paris, dividing his time between Paris and London with the seasons. (19682)
