Amusing ALS from the Academy Award-winning composer to an unidentified "dear friend," concerning developments in the personal life of the composer Zoltán Kodály.  May 14, 1960;  1 pp. on personal stationary, translated from the Hungarian, German, and Italian in full.  "My dear friend / Thank you for sending me the 23-year-old interview, which I hadn't seen before and which of course interested me.  Well, Kodály, after a wife about 100 years old, has taken a 20-year-old as a wife.  'There is no fool like an old fool.'  Party gossip has it that she is expecting.  If it isn't true...  They are probably very glad that Fink is back from Europe. / With many kind regards to all, / Rósza Miklós."  ALS from Rózsa are uncommon.  Mailing folds, else fine.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).  Together with typed English translation.

Rózsa received 17 Academy Award nominations over the course of his career, including wins for Spellbound, A Double Life, and Ben-Hur.  Throughout his career, he maintained what he called a "double life," continually producing concert music in addition to his film scores. (19680)
