Concert program from a Tuesday, January 16, 1940 performance with the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, signed to front page by the American soprano.  The performance, which featured Maynor as soloist for arias by Mozart, Weber, and Charpentier, also included works by Rossini, Dohnanyi, and Weinberger.  8 pp.  Fine.  6 x 9 inches (15.2 x 22.9 cm.).  

Maynor was a prominent concert performer throughout her career, the racism of the era preventing her from performing in staged opera productions.  She founded the Harlem School of the Arts in 1964, and in 1975 she became the first African-American appointed to the Metropolitan Opera's Board of Directors.
