Memorial Concert Program

Original program for a Memorial Concert in the great Romanian pianist's memory, performed by 50 members of the New York Philharmonic and featuring pianist and pedagogue Madeleine Lipatti, his widow, as soloist.  Performed at The Town Hall in New York City on Monday Evening, May 11th, 1953 at 8:30, a little over two years after his death.  Program included Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B-flat Major, the suite from Pelléas et Mélisande by Fauré, and concluded with a selection of pieces composed by Lipatti himself.  Light vertical fold, else in fine condition.  6.5 x 9 inches (16.5 x 22.9 cm.).

Lipatti died of Hodgkin's disease at the age of 33, in December of that year. Considered one of the finest pianists of the 20th century, he left an impressive recorded legacy despite the brevity of his performing career. (19580)
