Original 1937 Candid from Shooting of "The Last of Mrs. Cheyney"

Unusual M-G-M Grimes candid photograph of the film icon preparing to shoot a scene for the 1937 film The Last of Mrs. Cheyney.  Label to verso reads "....Fastening the last snap on her gown, Joan is ready to go into the scene with Robert Montgomery for the first 'Shot' of the day.."  Stamp "Kindly Credit M-G-M / Photo By Grimes" in purple. Wear to edges and some creasing in corners, overall very good.  7 x 9 inches (17.8 x 22.9 cm.).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
