"Tutu" - Signed Album Sleeve with Sketch

Rare signed promotional album by the legendary jazz trumpeter, signed and inscribed on the separate inner sleeve in red ballpoint, "To Katy / Miles," with a great abstract sketch of a trumpeter to the right side. The record is included. Minor wear along the edges; in overall fine condition.

Tutu was released in 1986 by Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded primarily at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Clinton Recording in New York, except the song "Backyard Ritual", which was recorded at Le Gonks in West Hollywood. Davis received the 1986 Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist Grammy Award for his performance on the album. Miles Davis was notoriously prickly and a generally reluctant autograph signer. Though authentic autograph signatures and (mostly late in life) signed photographs are obtainable, autograph material by Davis is rare. (19482)
