Disbound upright folio.  For piano, No. 7 from Soirées musicales, Op. 109, first published 1851.  Title; 2-7 pp.  Engraved throughout. Seller's stamp to lower edge of cover, "Woodhams Bro's/ Dealers in all kinds of/ Musical/ Merchandise/ No. 48/ Burdick St.,/ Kalamazoo, Mich."  Light foxing, some ghost foxing of music to some facing pages, wear to spine, else in fine condition.  10.5 x 13.5 inches (26.7 x 34.4 cm.).

Beyer was a popular composer in his day, known for his light music and piano arrangements of popular orchestral works.  Today he is best known for the piano instruction book Vorschule im Klavierspiel, an important influence on piano pedagogy since its publication in 1851. (19022)
